Bart Windrum 2002 Coleman Cheyenne Popup (Folding) Tent Trailer Improvements

THE VEHICLES

I suppose I ought to follow my own professional advice as one who clarifies and explains things for a living: start at a high level.

Cheyenne Popped Down

For those unfamiliar with the world of popup tent trailers, this is how the rig looks in travelling mode. It's got a spacious storage trunk in front, and notice how it's sitting level when hitched to the tow vehicle — one important aspect for safe towing/handling.

This pix was snapped at the height of the Colorado mid-September aspen-turning season at 10,001' at the top of Kenosha Pass.

Cheyenne Popped Up

For those unfamiliar with the world of popup tent trailers, this is what you get when the rig is popped up on site. This model has a double and a king-size bunk, is wired with both 12v (deep cycle battery) and shore power (110ac), and has hot and cold running water, an LP gas furnace, a 3-way refrigerator (LP, 12v, and 110ac), two stoves (low pressure indoor and high pressure outdoor), a dinette with portable table (which all folds down into either a bed or sofa; I use it as the latter on solo outings), a 'sofae-ette' which expands into a bed, 3 drawers, 7 cabinets, and the trunk.

Tow Vehicle

Here's the 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 'Z package' loaded with windsurfing gear during midsummer at Green Mountain Reservoir, Colorado.
