PRIVACY CURTAIN

Without a privacy curtain that splits the camper in two, one would have to go around unhitching and pulling all the curtains. With a privacy curtain you can pull it and one or two others in its vicinity.

The approach I've taken uses all soft materials which stow more or less in place.

Privacy Curtain 1

This pix shows the total width from the soft rod half way down. The rod is bulk bungee cord cut and tied to a length which would induce just the right amount of pull—enough to keep it from sagging but not much pull so that it wouldn't exert undo force on it anchorages.

The left anchor point is an eyebolt screwed into a coupler nut attached to the bottom of the roof brace bracket's mounting bolt (see this). The right anchor point is the top of the roof cable channel (see below).

The rod bends because it's gathered by the webbing strap used to stow the door when popped down, thus opening up door-side galley area to foot traffic.

Privacy Curtain 2

Here you can see the left half of the curtain "turning the corner": they galley is behind this part of the curtain, which I cut and seamed to fit around the lower galley behind the dinette seat (seat back not showing). The curtain is a pair of lightweight cloth shower curtains, which I snapped together with 3 snaps. The curtain rod rings are 1" black split rings typically used on keychains.

The curtain is airy and semi-opaque. When you pull some of the camper's installed opaque curtains behind it you cannot see through the privacy curtain. All its folds, due to the 12' total length, help induce opacity regardless.

Privacy Curtain 3

Here you see the right side of the curtain, and can just discern how people can still enter and exit the camper when the curtain is deployed.

Privacy Curtain 4

This is how it looks from outside the camper through the opened door.

Privacy Curtain 5

Here the curtain is stowed when not in use and the camper is on-site. I sewed a short pre-made velcro "belt" to it so there's nothing to drop or misplace. In actuality, the bottom half of the curtain gets tucked behind a 3-drawer Sterlite unit which sits atop the cabinet (barely showing). A dishdrain sits atop the drawers and a hanging basket is in the vicinity. Hooks on the side of the cabinet hold various 12v-to-1/4" plug extension cables.

Privacy Curtain 6

Here's the right anchorage detail. I bent a bungee hook 90 degrees and simply hook it over the top of this metal channel which finishes the interior where the roof lift cable travels.

Privacy Curtain 7

This last pix shows the curtain stowed for popping down. Both ends of the curtain rod hang from the eyebolt and the curtain lays atop the collapsed dinette.
