2002 Coleman Cheyenne Popup (Folding) Tent Trailer Improvements
FIXES Some mods are fixes, not additions. Some are merely annoyances soothed, others may be critical safety factors. Some I've done are below. |

Perhaps due to a misadjusted roof pulling on the tenting, the velcro Fleetwood merely glued to the lifter arm covers separated, leaving large gaps of tenting unsealed. I pulled the old velcro, cleaned the surface, and reapplied wider new hook. Then I drilled holes and pop riveted through the velcro to the cover. One must be _very_ careful in assessing and confirming adequate clearance for the mass of rivet material on the backside to ensure that the lift mechanism will not rub or bind when the roof is closed. Rivets differ, and you can obtain some that squeeze down tigher on the backsides. I did my own squeezing of conventional rivets by working them with a progressively tighter vice grip after popping them in. Drilling can be a bit tricky since the covers are very near the roof ends and clearance is tight. Also, the sides are double-thick metal. Use a bit collar to control bit depth for when the bit clears the last of the metal, and use a magnetic bowl to capture shavings. Also shown is black loop velcro where the tenting terminates beside the door. I ran a rivet through this piece also; it can be subject to great lateral stress. Yes, you negate a little of the velcro's surface grabbing area; so far my reinstall is all holding very tightly.

Lifter Arm Tent Velco Securement
One might also consider using Velstick and an appropriate forumulation of LocTite glue to bond it to the painted metal (check with LocTitle tech support and obtain at McMasterCarr.dom). You can get Velstick at a Coleman/Fleetwood dealer. Best value are the 1" strips used under the wheel wells for the AddARooms. First, tho, make sure that the curtains' loop will mesh ok with the Velstick (I've not tested this).
